Industrial lighting systems are sophisticated pieces of engineering, but the people installing them don’t need complexity. They need clarity and simplicity in every detail.
The principle was clear: if the product is intelligent, the communication should be intuitive. We reframed Thorn's technical documentation as a universal visual system, using illustration, icons and structured information to make complex products easier to understand, wherever they're installed.
Designed around understanding. Working closely with Thorn's product development teams, we translated complex engineering into clear, user-centred communication.
The system replaced dense technical instruction with a consistent visual language that could work across products, markets and languages, making installation information easier to navigate and act on.
By shifting the focus from technical specification to human understanding, complexity remained where it belonged: in the engineering, not in the experience.
